Veteran boyband Boyzone have seen their album 'Brother', their first release since the death of band member Stephen Gately in October last year, head straight to number one today (March 14) on the UK album chart
It had been thought that Gorillaz were on course for number one with new album 'Plastic Beach'. However, Boyzone's fifth number one album crept ahead, with sales of 100,000, as Mothering Sunday gifts were sought this week. 'Plastic Beach' is a new entry at number two.
Ironically, Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating was number one on Mothers’ Day last year with his solo album 'Songs For My Mother'.
On the singles chart, Tinie Tempah remains at number one for a second week with 'Pass Out'. There is a new entry at three for Justin Bieber with 'Baby', for Gabriella Cilmi at nine with 'On A Mission and for McLean at 10 with 'My Name'. There are no other new entries on the top 20.
Back on the album chart, there are two other new entries on the top 10. Amy MacDonald 'A Curious Thing' is straight in at number four and the Original Cast Recording of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s 'Love Never Dies' is straight in at number 10. The only other new entry on the album top 20 comes from R 'n' B star Lemar with his hits collection at 18. |
